San Francisco   1983—1999

Created a chain of specialty coffee bars. Beginning with a single store in 1983, Pasqua Coffee grew into a 58–unit, coast–to–coast enterprise with 700-employees and over $26 million in operating revenue. It served 1,000,000 customers per month. The company was purchased by the Starbucks Corporation in 1999 and absorbed into its chain.

From inception, headed operations, real estate and construction, marketing and sales divisions. Recruited board members, initiated business plans and strategies, and raised expansion capital totaling more than $15 million. Invented custom and proprietary coffee equipment.

The Pedestrian Café
San Francisco and Washington, D.C.   1982-1983

In 1983, established the prototype coffee bar "The Pedestrian Café" in Washington, D.C. and San Francisco. In 1985, the San Francisco unit became the first Pasqua coffee bar. This business became the widely imitated model for fast-service specialty coffee cafes nationwide.

Pioneering wholesaler of "fresh-roasted" coffee brand to grocery stores in the Pacific Northwest. Sold the brand and operation to Starbucks Coffee.

Direct sales and marketing for alternative energy design and contracting company. Grew revenues from $200,000 to $4 million. Developed broad working knowledge of energy, utility, and water systems.

Established a community development organization now in its thirtieth year. Developed job training, senior citizen, health and childcare services. Promoted regional economic development and hosted federal, state and community programs.

For Irving R. Warner, the pre–eminent professional fund raiser and event organizer. Projects included the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, the Nation Magazine, Pacifica Radio, Planned Parenthood, Brandeis University, the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions.
